McCormick Ranch Railroad Park

IMG_3700I grew up in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area and I have a plethora of fond childhood memories of the McCormick Ranch Railroad Park. It really is a gem in the middle of the city. One that I frequent with my own children now.

The park has two playgrounds, a train museum, two trains to ride, including a steam engine, and a special building housing three different Scottsdale based train clubs that have built some amazing models with multiple trains running. There is a merry go round made possible by the Charros of Scottsdale as well as an ice cream shop and small food stand. Oh, the train and merry go round are only $2 and the exhibit hall is free.

In the summer they host a concert series on the expansive picnic lawn and it is a must visit at Christmas time. The park is open 363 days a year and is a very affordable afternoon for you and the family.

To give you an idea, below is a very quick video of one of the train rides around the park.
