Scottsdale PD Shred Event Coming Up.

The Scottsdale Police Department is holding a document shredding, prescription drug disposal, kid finger printing and bbq eating event on October 31, 2009 in Scottsdale.  The event is to benefit the “Shop with a Cop” program so a suggested donation of $2 a box for shredding is recommended.  However, the shredding, drug disposal and finger printing are free.

The event will be held in the parking lot in front of Sunflower Market at 4402 N. Miller Road in Scottsdale from 11am – 3pm on Saturday October 31, 2009.

If you are not familiar with the “Shop with a Cop” program, here is the description from the Police Officers of Scottsdale Association’s website.

This program has been designed to unite Scottsdale Police Officers and public safety employees with local disadvantaged school children to enable them to put their best foot forward when starting the new school year. Each child will be eligible to receive new shoes, several outfits of clothing and a backpack full of school supplies. All parents will receive fingerprints and new pictures of their children for the school year taken by the police officers working in the school district and in their communities.

This is a great service they are providing for the community and I encourage you to take full advantage of it. Besides, who doesn’t love a little bbq?
